I can't say enough great things about this bakery! I ordered one of their 6" custom 3 layer chiffon cakes around 1pm Friday and needed it Saturday night. I had quite a mix of flavors for my boyfriend's birthday cake and was a bit nervous how it would turn out. Not only was it beautiful, but it was also delicious! It tasted light, fresh, and was enjoyed by a multitude of people usually plagued by allergies (shellfish, tree nut, beef, cinnamon, etc ).
When we inquired at pickup if the cake would be safe from treenuts, the employees verified with a quick call and were so kind/caring to our concerns. The cake was in a sturdy carrier box that protected it well.
The cake wasn't overly sweet and all the flavors complimented each other perfectly. The matcha cake had no bitterness to it, the strawberry filling provided a light tartness, and the lavender frosting was more akin to cool whip than traditional frosting which really suited the texture of the chiffon cake. We had plenty for a group of 10-11 adults with some even getting 2 slices!
Great value, wonderful staff, and delicious treats! What more could ya ask of a bakery 😁

20260614 I ordered online last night anx this morning and my orders were available upon arrival. The employees are sooo friendly... unlike many in the DC/NOVA area. Service was excellent. Their tshirts are too funny! I asked for a size M t-shirt and the employee got it in the back for me. Then my sister wanted a M too and I bought a L. I ran back in the store and the employee was kind enough to exchange it. I bought several different kinds of pastries and will review them when I have a chance to sample them.
- strawberry no baked cheesecake. It was good for no baked but I prefer the baked version.
- Durian moon cakes- as expected I can smell it even without opening the container that they are in. I think it is best to eat it right after it is baked. I assume the pastry would be crispy. I ate it at 11 pm, at night, and it was soft. Still tasted good. The durian filling is a custard.
- Milk pudding - it was ok. It is not sweet enough and just tasted like milk. It would have been better if it has more coconut milk and the gelatin is thicker.

My wife and I ventured over to Purple Yum Bakery in Lexington last night for a unique dinner. Having lived in Japan with family for 4 1/2 years we got used to the yummy Asian Baked Goods available. Purple Yum brings back a lot of great memories. Their Vegetable Curry buns are to die for and so are the soft bread savory good Char Siu Bao (Chinese BBQ Buns). They have a number of unique, sweet offerings as well. Note that the “sweet“ is not the same kind of sweet that you get at a donut shop. It’s much less pronounced, still sweet, but in a mild fashion. I just can’t imagine that I hadn’t been there yet but things made it difficult. I will be going back and very soon! Worth the trip. Worth the time. Worth the money!

Had a fantastic breakfast at Purple Yum today! Such a cute bakery and sooo many options! We tried 4 items and bought a loaf of milk bread to bring home for later snacking. Everything is delicious and the self-serve set up is super clever and fun. Really awesome atmosphere with chill music, modern decor and super friendly staff. Will definitely be back!
