Bourbon n' Toulouse

Came here while visiting a friend’s family - highly recommended by our friend. Honestly, from the outside this place wasn’t something that I would normally gravitate to. However, coming into this establishment - everybody’s so friendly and so welcoming this is how I knew that the restaurant was going to be fantastic. Not only did the gentleman at the front walk us through the menu and how to order he gave some great recommendations as well. Food came out real quick and has great flavours at a great price point and I enjoy that you can do half size so you can try more than one. I ordered the crawfish etoufee. So many different hot sauce flavours to try and get them in a little sauce container the bread oh my God I could devour that so good the whole meal. Honestly, the flavours were delicious. If I’m ever in this area again, I’m definitely gonna come back.

I had not been here since I moved to Michigan 15 years ago. But it was in my memory. I got to come back for work today and this place stands the test of time. It's soooo good. Took a work friend and he was floored too. I am a huge fan of the corn and black bean dish that is super addictive - sweet and spicy. Great with the jumbalya mixed in. It's incredible and probably top 1-3 all time restaurants for me.

Absolute hidden gem! No frills Creole food with a funky interior. It was our first time there and the guys kindly let us sample everything before ordering. The shrimp etouffee was amazing. Our only regret was we only came here once!

I would not recommend eating here if you have had authentic Cajun food. The staff was friendly and kind but my meal was not enjoyable. The gumbo had a distinct burnt taste that was clear that they burnt the roux. The etoufee was not flavorful. And the gravy was lumpy like the sauce had split. Very different than what I’ve seen before in Cajun food specific etoufee and gumbo. The people I was with had the jambalaya and the white chicken chili. I tasted the white chicken chili and it was better than what I got but also not great. I was told the jambalaya was good. The prices were great and portion sizes were more than generous. The bread was okay, not a fan of Cajun butter put on the bread would have weathered it plain or a choice to get it plain.

Barbour Toulouse is one of those hidden local gems that surprises you in the best way. From the outside, it may not look like much, but once you step inside, the atmosphere has a warm and authentic charm that makes you feel right at home. The restaurant offers a great variety of delicious southern dishes, and the ability to mix different items makes the experience even better. The portions are generous, the prices are very fair, and the overall value is hard to beat. It’s definitely one of the best spots in Lexington for tasty comfort food without spending too much.
