We stopped down from Ohio on our way to Tennessee and will definitely be back!! Everything was delicious. I had the hot bbq wings. They fell right off the bone. They were crispy and saucy. You can’t go wrong with the green beans and cabbage or washing it all down with an ice cold kool-aid. The owner and his wife were so nice and brought us things to try. Awesome food and awesome people!!

Some of the BEST soul food we have had!! Our kids (one of which never eats anything), cleared their plates & asked when we could come back to try more. The best green beans we’ve had & TOP NOTCH gravy. Chef and his wife were so hospitable, and he came to introduce himself and tell us about his love for the food but we could taste in the meals!!

I’ve been a chef for over 30 years and love finding new places to eat. While visiting my father in Lexington he told me about Blue Skillet and mentioned they had the best oxtail special he’s ever had. Now mind you my father is 90 years old and has had a mountain of oxtails in his lifetime so that’s a very BOLD statement from him. They’re not on the menu, along with some other specials he mentioned so I had to try. I was served the most tender, juicy, delicious oxtails I’ve ever had outside of an elderly Baptist granny’s house(Amen) Somehow they had my mothers hot water cornbread in the kitchen alongside my aunts greens fully dressed with onion and tomato. The gravy the oxtails were in could’ve been a side all by itself, not kidding. The chef, his wife and the staff in this comfortable setting are giving you the best home cooking that a relative had NOTHING to do with, everything was amazing and I intend on going back to get the salmon croquettes that I’m assuming tastes like my mothers. If you want an experience instead of just a meal, you have to make your way in there as soon as you can.

Amazing food for the soul and body. You can feel that the chef wants you to enjoy it and leave with a full stomach while keeping it affordable.
Great service
The ribs (todays special) were a true treat, more meat than you can expect from ribs, great sauce, perfectly tender.
The wings (hot honey) were a delight.
Mac'n'cheese was a treat. The catfish was just perfect (awesome crust).
But the true gem was the corn bread (and extras were $0.75 only!!). Imagine a cornbread had a love child with a pancake.
Fluffy, crispy, corny, a bit sweet, a bit fatty, and just perfect.
My plan is to break in and hide some cameras to steal that recipe.

Me and my friend were roadtripping and decided to look up places to eat on the way… Blue Skillet popped up with excellent reviews so we gave it a try. It met and exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend if you’re looking for that food that grandma used to make. Everything we had was top notch. It If I ever happen to be back in this area, I’m definitely stopping in again.
